Indalecia was named by Bond and Vucetich (1983). Its type is Indalecia grandensis. It is the type genus of Indaleciinae.
It was assigned to Indaleciinae by Cifelli and Soria (1983), Bond and Vucetich (1983); and to Adianthidae by Carroll (1988).
