Taxonomy
Taras unisulcatus was named by Vokes (1939). Its type specimen is UCMP 15636, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is UCMP loc. 672, Parsons Peak, which is in a Ypresian marine sandstone in the Domengine Formation of California.
It was recombined as Diplodonta (Diplodonta) unisulcatus by Moore (1988).
