Taxonomy
Strobodon stirtoni was named by Wang et al. (1999) [genotype]. Its type specimen is UCMP V-33474, a maxilla, and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Fence Line, which is in a Clarendonian terrestrial horizon in the Valentine Formation of Nebraska.
It was recombined as Aelurodon stirtoni by Wang et al. (1999), Wang et al. (2008).
