Taxonomy
Chione panzana was named by Anderson and Martin (1914). Its type specimen is CAS 115 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is CAS loc. 53, which is in a Miocene coastal horizon in the Temblor Formation of California.
It was recombined as Securella panzana by Parker (1949).
