Taxonomy
Alticamelus procerus was named by Matthew and Cook (1909). Its type specimen is AMNH 14070, a partial skeleton ( a crushed skull and jaws with parts of the skeleton associated), and it is a 3D body fossil.
It was recombined as Aepycamelus procerus by Macdonald (1956), Kelly (1992) and Honey et al. (1998).
