Taxonomy
Excorbula shastana was named by Squires and Saul (2004). Its type specimen is LACMIP 13121 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is LACMIP loc. 24666, Deer Creek, which is in a Santonian marine siliciclastic in the Chico Formation of California.
