Prothero 2021Zygomatic wing fan-like and strongly dorsally curved; shallow rostral muscle fossa, which is beneath the anterior edge of the zygomatic wing; glenoid fossa does not extend far laterally to tympanic process; maxilla does not contact lateral edge of orbitosphenoid bulla; broad auditory bulla; suprapalatine inflation with large open, non-cancellous sinuses; shallow dorsal palatine sulcus; premaxilla over 50 mm long, longer than in any other tayassuines; transversely elongate occipital condyles; moderately long (40-50 mm) upper diastema between canines and premolars; cheek teeth not broad and bulbous as in Macrogenis; P2 with protocone, metacone; P3-4 submolariform; long rostrum, and upper and lower diastemata moderately long (50-55mm); cl lacks labial ridges; p2 has a small metaconid; p3-4 submolariform.
