Taxonomy
Punahyrax bondesioi was named by Reguero et al. (2008). It is not extant. Its type specimen is MLP 88-V-10-6, a tooth (left m3). Its type locality is Antofagasta de la Sierra, which is in a Priabonian terrestrial sandstone/conglomerate in the Geste Formation of Argentina.
