Taxonomy
Simbakubwa kutokaafrika was named by Borths and Stevens (2019). Its type specimen is KNM-ME 20A, a mandible (left dentary with canine, p4, m3, and alveoli of p3, m1, and m2), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Muhoroni Agglomerates, Meswa Bridge, which is in a Miocene channel sandstone in the Muhroni Agglomerates Formation of Kenya. It is the type species of Simbakubwa.
