Alticonus gazini
Taxonomy
Alticonus gazini was named by Eberle and Lillegraven (1998) [based on unpublished name "Tinuviel gazini" of Middleton 1983; accidental validation]. Its type specimen is UCM 34895, a mandible (left dentary with partial canine alveolus, root of p1, and complete p2-m3), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Alexander, which is in a Puercan terrestrial shale/sandstone in the Denver Formation of Colorado. It is the type species of Alticonus.
