Taxonomy
Amebelodon fricki was named by Barbour (1927) [genotype]. Its type specimen is UNL No. 4-4-27 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Cambridge, which is in a Hemphillian terrestrial horizon in the Ash Hollow Formation of Nebraska.
It was recombined as Amebelodon (Amebelodon) fricki by Lambert (1990).
