It was reranked as the subfamily Cateretinae by Crowson (1981); it was corrected as Kateretidae by Bouchard et al. (2011), Cline et al. (2014), Robertson et al. (2015), Poinar and Brown (2017), Peris and Jelínek (2019), Cai et al. (2022) and Zhao et al. (2023).
It was assigned to Nitidulidae by Crowson (1981); to Cucujoidea by Bouchard et al. (2011), Cline et al. (2014), Robertson et al. (2015), Poinar and Brown (2017) and Peris and Jelínek (2019); and to Nitiduloidea by Cai et al. (2022) and Zhao et al. (2023).
