Pliohippus (Astrohippus) stockii
Taxonomy
Pliohippus (Astrohippus) stockii was named by Lance (1950). Its type specimen is CIT 3576, a partial skeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Yepomera, which is in a Hemphillian terrestrial horizon in Mexico.
It was recombined as Astrohippus stocki by Quinn (1955), MacFadden (1984), MacFadden (1986) and Prado and Alberdi (1996); it was recombined as Astrohippus stockii by Mooser (1973), MacFadden (1998), Kelly (1998) and MacFadden (2006).
