Cyphaspis minima was named by Schuchert and Cooper (1930) [= Otarion sp. Cooper & Kindle, 1936, p. 364, pi. 52, figs. 30, 38;
= Otarion sp. Lesperancé 1968a, p. 813, 815 (partim); 1968b, p. 147.].
It was recombined as Otarion minima by Lesperance (1968); it was recombined as Harpidella minima by Lespérance and Weissenberger (1998).
