Bassariscus lycopotamicus
Taxonomy
Lutrictis lycopotamicus was named by Cope (1879). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is "Loup Fork Fauna", Cottonwood Creek, which is in a Barstovian terrestrial horizon in the Mascall Formation of Oregon. It is the type species of Lutrictis.
It was recombined as Potamotherium lycopotamicum by Matthew (1904) and Thorpe (1922); it was recombined as Bassariscus lycopotamicus by Gregory and Downs (1951).
