Taxonomy
Brachymetopus (Brachymetopus) maccoyi intermedius was named by Engel and Morris (1992) [= Brachymetopus dunstani Mitchell 1918 = Brachymetopus sp. indet. Mitchell 1918]. Its type specimen is AMF84316a/b, a cephalon/head, and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Brachymetopus (Brachymetopus) intermedius by Vanderlaan and Ebach (2015).
