Taxonomy
Brontops dispar was named by Marsh (1887). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Warbonnet Creek (Chadron), which is in a Chadronian terrestrial horizon in Nebraska.

It was recombined as Titanotherium dispar by Osborn and Wortman (1895), Osborn (1896); it was recombined as Megacerops dispar by Hay (1902), Osborn (1902).
