Taxonomy
Calomys (Bensonomys) yazhi was named by Baskin (1978). Its type specimen is WC no. 187, a mandible (right dentary fragment with M1-2), and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is White Cone, which is in a Hemphillian terrestrial horizon in the Bidahochi Formation of Arizona.
It was recombined as Bensonomys yazhi by Martin et al. (2002).
