Dikelocephalus affinis was named by Billings (1865). Its type specimen is Nat. Mus. Canada 891, a cephalon/head, and it is a 3D body fossil.
It was recombined as Platycolpus affinis by Walcott (1914); it was recombined as Levisella affinis by Ulrich (1930).
