Derolathrus capdoliensis was named by Tihelka et al. (2022). Its type specimen is IGR.CDL-2.42, an exoskeleton, and it is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Cadeuil amber, which is in an Albian/Cenomanian terrestrial amber in France.
