Taxonomy
Agrion antiquum was named by Pictet (1848). It is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Baltic Amber, Berendt collection, which is in a Priabonian terrestrial amber in Poland.
It was recombined as Coenagrion antiquum by Kirby (1890); it was recombined as Platycnemis antiqua by Nel and Papazian (1990), Bechly (1998).
