Citellus matachicensis

Taxonomy
Citellus matachicensis was named by Wilson (1949). Its type specimen is LACM (CIT) 3551, a partial skeleton (Nearly complete skull, mandible, and partial skeleton), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Matachic, which is in a Hemphillian terrestrial horizon in Mexico.

It was recombined as Spermophilus matachicensis by Hemming (1956), Hall and Kelson (1959), Shotwell (1968).
