Taxonomy
Shorea pliotumbuggaia was named by Khan et al. (2016). It is not extant. Its type specimen is Department of Botany, University of Calcutta, CUH/PPL/B/24, a leaf. Its type locality is Bhalukpong-Tawang Road cutting, Bhalukpong, which is in a Pliocene fluvial siltstone in the Subansiri Formation of India.
