Taxonomy
Quercus (Heterobalanus) yangyiensis was named by He et al. (2014). It is not extant. Its type specimen is Institute of Paleontology and Stratigraphy, Lanzhou University, LUP0709-yy-14-3-070, a leaf. Its type locality is Yangyi, Baoshan, which is in a Pliocene fluvial claystone in the Yangyi Formation of China.
