Taxonomy
Sambucus alveolatisemina was named by Huang et al. (2012). It is not extant. Its type specimen is Kunming Institute of Botany, FD 001 (endocarp). Its type locality is Fudong, Lanping (red claystone), which is in a Pliocene fluvial claystone in the Sanying Formation of China.
