Taxonomy
Samaropsis johillensis was named by Saksena (1955). It is not extant. Its type locality is Pali Birsinghpur, which is in a Sakmarian fluvial-lacustrine horizon in the Karharbari Formation of India.
It was recombined as Alatocarpus johillensis by Lele (1969), Lakhanpal et al. (1976).
