Axophyllum moroccoense was named by Rodriguez et al. (2013). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Djebel Ouarkziz, which is in a Bashkirian reef, buildup or bioherm limestone in the Djebel Ouarkziz Formation of Morocco.
