Olenopsis agnesensis was named by Walcott (1912). Its type specimen is USNM 58363 and is a 3D body fossil.
It was recombined as Alokistocare agnesensis by Resser (1935); it was recombined as Amecephalus agnesensis by Sundberg (2004).
