Macrotaeniopteris feddenii was named by Feistmantel (1881). It is not extant. Its type locality is Lohardaga, which is in an Artinskian/Kungurian fluvial-lacustrine horizon in India.
It was recombined as Taeniopteris feddeni by Hazra and Prasad (1957), Chandra and Tewari (1991).
