Taeniopteris morrisi was named by Oldham (1863). It is not extant. Its type locality is Bindraban, which is in a Jurassic fluvial horizon in India.
It was recombined as Macrotaeniopteris morrisii by Schimper (1869), Lakhanpal et al. (1976).
