Taxonomy
Tetracolporites melioides was named by Ramanujam (1966). It is not extant. Its type locality is Neyveli, which is in a Miocene marginal marine lignite in the Neyveli Formation of India.
It was recombined as Meliapollis melioides by Sah and Kar (1970), Lakhanpal et al. (1976).
