ParatypeAMNH 12755 consists of an incomplete skull missing the left anterior portion.

Named for Arthur H. Harris, to honor his many contributions to late Cenozoic vertebrate paleontology

Taxonomy
Hesperotestudo harrisi was named by Lichtig and Lucas (2022). Its type specimen is AMNH 14340, a partial skeleton (a nearly complete skull, most of both epiplastra (though the posterior portion is obscured by matrix), the distal head of a humerus, a right radius, right perip), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is NW Pojoaque Bluffs, which is in a Barstovian terrestrial horizon in the Tesuque Formation of New Mexico.
