Taxonomy
Nipadites hindi was named by Rode (1933). It is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Mohgaonkalap District, which is in a Cretaceous/Paleocene lacustrine horizon in India.
It was recombined as Nipa hindi by Sahni and Rode (1937) and Delete (1938); it was synonymized subjectively with Nypa fruticans by Tralau (1964); it was recombined as Nypa hindi by Lakhanpal et al. (1976).
