Taxonomy
Taxodites indicus was named by Oldham and Morris (1863). It is not extant. Its type locality is Bindraban, which is in a Jurassic fluvial horizon in India.

It was recombined as Palissya indica by Feistmantel (1877); it was recombined as Retinosporites indica by Holden (1915); it was recombined as Pachypteris indica by Bose and Roy (1968), Lakhanpal et al. (1976), Chandra and Tewari (1991).
