Pentacrinites ausichi was named by Hess (2012). Its type specimen is M10921, a set of stem ossicles (nodal), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Pont des Étoiles, which is in a Bajocian/Bathonian platform/shelf-margin reef limestone/marl in France.
