EtymologySpecies name in honor of Tim Tokaryk, in recognition of his contribution to the paleontology of the Frenchman Formation.
Taxonomy
Leiochelys tokaryki was named by Brinkman et al. (2023). Its type specimen is RSM P3328.2, a skeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is RSM site number 28769 ("Site B"), which is in a Maastrichtian channel sandstone in the Frenchman Formation of Canada. It is the type species of Leiochelys.
