Araneometa procera was named by Wunderlich (2022). Its type specimen is Patrick Müller Mex. B 1, an exoskeleton, and it is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Mexican amber (Müller collection), which is in a Miocene terrestrial amber in Mexico.
