Taxonomy
Rhizopalmoxylon penchiensis was named by Rode (1934). It is not extant. Its type locality is Mohgaon Kalan, which is in a Paleogene lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal horizon in the Deccan Intertrappean Formation of India.

It was considered a nomen nudum by Lakhanpal et al. (1976).
