Cyclopyge pachycephala was named by Hawle and Corda (1847). It is the type species of Heterocyclopyge.

It was recombined as Heterocyclopyge pachycephala by Marek (1961).

Synonyms
  • Selenoptychus rotundatus was named by Hawle and Corda (1847).

    It was synonymized subjectively with Heterocyclopyge pachycephala by Marek (1961).
