Duchesnehippus intermedius
Taxonomy
Epihippus (Duchesnehippus) intermedius was named by Peterson (1932) [type of subgenus Duchesnehippus; sometimes falsely attributed to Scott 1945]. Its type specimen is CMNH 11845, a mandible, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Halfway Hollow (Dry Gulch Creek Member), which is in an Uintan terrestrial horizon in the Duchesne River Formation of Utah.
It was recombined as Epihippus intermedius by Bjork (1967), Hanson (1996) and MacFadden (1998); it was synonymized subjectively with Epihippus uintensis by MacFadden (1980); it was recombined as Duchesnehippus intermedius by Rasmussen et al. (1999).
