Taxonomy
Pachypteris brevipinnata was named by Feistmantel (1876). It is not extant. Its type locality is Kakadbhit, which is in a Jurassic/Cretaceous fluvial-lacustrine horizon in the Bhuj Formation of India.
It was synonymized subjectively with Sphenopteris specifica by Lakhanpal et al. (1976).
