Osteopygis kranzi

Taxonomy
Judithemys kranzi was named by Weems (2014). Its type specimen is CMM-V-4755, a partial skeleton (partial carapace), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Fort Washington Construction Site, which is in a Thanetian marine siliciclastic in the Aquia Formation of Maryland.

It was recombined as Osteopygis kranzi by Gentry et al. (2023).

A. D. Gentry et al. 2023Osteopygis kranzi can be diagnosed as a representative of Osteopygis by the set of shell characters listed for the genus above. Osteopygis kranzi can be differentiated from other species of Osteopygis by possessing a proportionally shorter nuchal, a sixth costal which diminishes in width moving laterally, and an elongate eighth neural.
