Taxonomy
Cetopirus polysyrinx was named by Collareta et al. (2022) [LACMIP Type 14915]. Its type specimen is LACMIP 1210.158, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Union Oil 76 Refinery Number 2, which is in a Pleistocene terrestrial horizon in the Palos Verdes Sand Formation of California.
