Taxonomy
Palmoxylon superbum was named by Trivedi and Verma (1971). It is not extant. Its type locality is Keria, Chhindwara, which is in a Paleogene lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal horizon in the Deccan Intertrappean Formation of India.
