Taxonomy
Palmocaulon surangei was named by Bonde (1986). It is not extant. Its type locality is Umariya, which is in a Paleogene fluvial horizon in the Deccan Intertrappean Formation of India. It is the type species of Parapalmocaulon.
It was recombined as Parapalmocaulon surangei by Bonde (1987), Bonde (1987) and Srivastava (1991).
