Vaterioxylon was named by Trivedi and Misra (1980). It is not extant.

It was assigned to Dipterocarpaceae by Srivastava (1991).

Synonyms
  • Vaterioxylon deccanii was named by Yawale (1979). It is not extant. Its type locality is Mahurzari, which is in a Paleogene lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal horizon in the Deccan Intertrappean Formation of India.

    It was considered a nomen nudum by Srivastava (1991).
