Taxonomy
Westropia benfieldi was named by Adrain (1997). Its type specimen is ROM 53058, a cephalon/head (cranidium), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is ABR TTD (talus collection), Cape Phillips Fm., Cornwallis Island, Northwest Terr, which is in a Sheinwoodian slope carbonate/shale in the Cape Phillips Formation of Canada. It is the type species of Westropia.
