Taxonomy
Proetus ryckholti was named by Barrande (1846) [Proetus Ryckholtii]. It is the type species of Ryckholtia, Coniproetus (Ryckholtia), Rijckholtia.
It was corrected as Proetus ryckholtii by Barrande (1846); it was recombined as Proetus (Unguliproetus) ryckholti by Erben (1951); it was recombined as Coniproetus (Ryckholtia) ryckholti by Šnajdr (1980) and Snajdr (1980); it was recombined as Coniproetus ryckholti by Lieberman (1994); it was recombined as Ryckholtia ryckholti by Jell and Adrain (2002); it was recombined as Rijckholtia ryckholti by Donovan and Van Den Hoek Ostende (2010).
