Cornuproetus (Cornuproetus) pribyli was named by Alberti (1969) [Cornuproetus (Cornuproetus?) pribyli]. It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Grou Limestone ("princeps"-Kalk), RT VII/8, Rabat-Tiflet Area, Morocco, which is in a Pragian marine limestone in the Grou Limestone Formation of Morocco.
It was recombined as Buchiproetus pribyli by Bault et al. (2021).
