Gerastos (Gerastos) kermur was named by Šnajdr (1980). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Houbuv Quarry, Zlaty Kun Massif, which is in a Pragian reef, buildup or bioherm limestone in the Koneprusy Limestone Formation of the Czech Republic.
It was recombined as Gerastos kermur by van Viersen (2021).
